Dealing with Fear in Children

We can’t control what happens, we can only control how we react.

All parents and teachers must help children in dealing with fear.  How children learn to cope with things that frighten them can make a huge impact in their adult lives.  I’ve seen first hand how one can be paralyzed with fear.  Worse, it stops us from reaching our potential.

Children learn how to react to situations by looking at how we react.

Horizon’s Magazine, a publication for Presbyterian women, published and article, Looking Fear in the Eyes, discussing dealing with fear in children.  It references The Whole Brain Child, by Daniel J. Siegel, a book helping parents nurture their child’s developing mind.

They were nice enough to use one of my illustrations for their article.  You may see the article here.
